Silence Unknown Callers and Privacy Checkup: New Privacy Features
July 03, 2023 (5 months ago)
At WhatsApp, safeguarding the confidentiality of your messages remains our utmost priority. While End-to-End encryption forms the foundation of our commitment to ensuring secure calls and messages, we continually enhance privacy measures. We recently introduced Chat Lock, which enables you to protect sensitive conversations with a password. Moreover, features like Disappearing Messages, screenshot blocking for View Once, and the option to maintain your online presence privately add extra layers of privacy.
Today, we are thrilled to introduce two new updates to this expanding range: Silence Unknown Callers and Privacy Checkup, which are now available to all users.
Silence Unknown Callers empowers you with greater privacy and control over incoming calls. It automatically filters out spam, scams, and calls from unknown individuals, providing enhanced protection. These calls will not ring on your phone, but will still be visible in your Call list in case they turn out to be from someone important.
In order to raise awareness, we are introducing Privacy Checkup to ensure that everyone is well-informed about the available protection options on WhatsApp.
This comprehensive feature provides a step-by-step process that assists you in configuring crucial privacy settings, enabling you to select the optimal level of protection, all conveniently located in one place. By selecting "Start Checkup" in your Privacy settings, you will be guided through multiple privacy layers that enhance the security of your messages, calls, and personal information.
Ensuring the security of your confidential conversations is crucial because we understand the need for a secure environment for communication. We are actively spreading this message globally through innovative means to emphasize the significance of this matter. Beginning this week, we are encouraging individuals to reach out to one another securely via private messages, allowing friends and loved ones to feel reassured that they have a safe space to express themselves.
